Vera Thompson

Vera Overton Thompson, 77, of 3775 N. Camp Arthur Road, Vincennes, passed away at 6:25 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2014 at Gentle Care.She was born November 17, 1935 in Poseyville, Indiana to Edgar and Audrey (Fisher) Overton.Vera had worked as a secretary for the Vincennes Community School Corporation in the superintendent's office, office manager for Logan Boyd, and recently as an agent for Klein Realty. An active member of the First Church of God in Vincennes, she was an amazing cook and loved her family, church, and serving people. Surviving are her children, Sandra Weisbrod, Randy (Terri) Thompson, and Bill (Elizabeth) Thompson, all of Vincennes; her brothers and sisters, Maxine (Bill) Peerman of Poseyville, Tom (Shirley) Overton of Stewartsville, IN, Allen (Marietta) Overton of Bicknell, Janet Staley of Poseyville, Kenneth (Sheila) Overton of Mt. Vernon, IN, and Connie Woods of St. Meinrad, IN; her grandchildren, Sarah Thompson, Eli Thompson, Adam (Ginger) Weisbrod, Tucker Weisbrod, Shelby Wortman; her step grandchildren, Joshua Thais and Ethan Thais; and her great grandchildren, Logan, Lahai, and Liberty Weisbrod.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobby Lee Thompson, who preceded her on November 16, 2008; and her brothers and sisters, Ida Blaylock, Carol Gene Overton, John Overton, and Malcolm Overton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday May 23, 2014 at the First Church of God in Vincennes with Rev. Georg Karl officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God or Gentle Care.
