Veronica West

Veronica E. West, 90, passed away on May 27, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospital surrounded by her family. Veronica was born on March 8, 1932 in Vincennes and she was the daughter of Aloysius A. and Bertha (Speth) Yochum. Veronica married Lawrence West on October 31, 1953 and he preceded her in death on June 28, 2018. Veronica is a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and attended St. John Catholic Church for many years. She worked as an inventory clerk at Bolk's and West Industrial. Veronica was very active in the St. Ann's Alter Society the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and she was also active in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. Veronica was also a recipient of the Brute Award from the Catholic Diocese of Evansville and the Knights of Columbus Family of the month award. Veronica is survived by her children, Lawrence B. West and his wife Patricia of Vincennes, IN, Ann West Sutton, of Vincennes, IN, Jeanne West DeWilde of Warsaw, IN, Ruth Ann West Wraley of Indianapolis, IN and Anthony "Tony" West, and his wife Debbie of Vincennes, IN; her grandchildren, Brett and Paige West, Aaron and Danielle West, Seth and Wendy West, Chris DeWilde, Rachel and Nick Coy, Regina Wraley, Jacob West, Abigail West; her great grandchildren, Lucy, Nora, and Veda West, Brody, Natalie, and Hallie West, Janet and Penelope West, Hudson Wraley, Raynn and Autumn DeWilde; her brother, Raymond Yochum, and his wife Shirley of Vincennes, IN; and her sister-in-laws, Mary Jeanette Yochum and Carol Yochum of Vincennes, IN. Veronica is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence, her siblings, Lawrence Yochum, George Yochum, Aloise Yochum, Paul Yochum, Bob Yochum, John Yochum, Jim Yochum, Helen Ann Bouvy; and her son-in-law, John DeWilde. Friends may visit with Veronica's family and friends from 9-11 am on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at St. John's Catholic Church, 803 Main St., Vincennes, IN 47591. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the conclusion of visitation at 11:00 am with Rev. Tony Ernst as celebrant. Veronica will be laid to rest next to her husband Lawrence in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The West family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
