Violet Allen

Violet (DeBord) Allen, 93, passed away at 7:45 pm on March 27, 2014 at Bridgepointe Health Campus. Violet was born on January 15, 1921 in Odon, IN the daughter of Samuel and Lucy (Cates) DeBord. She married Rufus Allen and he preceded her in death in 1981.Violet had worked at Brown Shoe Factory and retired from Lane Bryant in Indianapolis after thirty-three years. Violet was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. Survivors include her son, Michael Allen of Indianapolis, IN; sister, Hazel Steimel and her husband Robert of Bicknell and several nieces and nephews.Violet was preceded in death by her husband, one sister, Florence McCarter and one brother, Guy DeBord. Funeral services for Violet will be held at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway on March 31, 2014 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Ray Tromley officiating. Burial will follow in Wheatland Cemetery.
