Violet Twitty

Violet L. Sumner - Twitty, 97, of Vincennes, passed away Jan. 13, 2013, at the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville, IL. She retired from Vincennes University in 1986, having worked in food service for 22 years. Violet was a member of Community United Methodist Church. The daughter of Ralph and Anna (Schlottman) Hall, she was born Sept. 12, 1915 in Pike County, Indiana. Her parents have passed away, along with her first husband, Harmon Sumner, her second husband, Earl Twitty, and a son, Billy Joe Sumner. Survivors include her daughter, Ann Walls of Sumner, IL; sons, Ronald Sumner of Vincennes, Jack Sumner of Vincennes, and Jerry Sumner of Griffith, IN; her sisters, Willa Moon and Pat Klein of Largo, FL; a brother, Ralph Hall of Vincennes; and 106 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, at 2:00, at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 - 2:00 on Wednesday.
