Virgil Daugherty

Virgil L. Daugherty Jr., 76, of 3401 South State Road 241, Wheatland, went to be with the Lord on March 19th 2011.He was born December 15, 1934 in Vincennes, Indiana to Virgil & Vivian (Melvin) Daugherty Sr.Virgil worked for the Vincennes Community School Corporation as a janitor at Clark Middle School and was the Special Education Bus Driver. He was a member of the Central Church of Christ and a former member of the Central Church of Christ on St. Clair where he had served as an Elder. A 1953 Lincoln High School graduate, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also served in the United State Air Force for four years.Surviving is his wife of fifty four years, Laura (Feagans) Daugherty, whom he married on February 3, 1957, four children, Virgil Daugherty III of Vincennes, Douglas Daugherty of Wheatland, Gregg Daugherty of Monroe City, and Pam (Ted) Hazel of Vincennes; a sister, Phyllis Herschelman of Springfield, IL , 16 grandchildren, and 17 Great Grandchildren with 1 more on the way.Funeral services for Virgil will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Roger Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 Monday at the funeral home.
