Virginia Hoops

Virginia "Sally" Hoops, 94, of Monroe City, IN went to be with the Lord on April 8, 2023. She was born in Monroe City, IN on March 28, 1929, to the late Earl and Lucille (Hess) Van Vleet. Sally graduated from Monroe City High School in 1947. She married the love of her life, William "Bill" Hoops on August 1, 1947. Sally worked at Dr. Jerry Like's office and the local Post Office in Monroe City from 1966 to 1976. She was then promoted at the Post Office to Postmaster and worked diligently until her retirement in 1989. After retiring, Sally focused her time and energy into volunteering at the Monroe City Blue Jean Center and at Good Samaritan Hospital with the Red Cross for 30 years. She was also a member of the Monroe City First Church of God. In her free time outside of volunteering, Sally enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, reading, fishing, and mushroom hunting. She will be deeply missed by all. Sally was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill Hoops; siblings Annalee (Carl) Atkins, Earl (Gwen) Van Vleet Jr., and Max (Naomi) Van Vleet. She is survived by her sons Dan (Barbara) Hoops, Tom (Lisa Holscher) Hoops, Todd (Kalisa) Hoops; grandchildren Austin (Lauren) Hoops, Abby Hoops, Alton Hoops; great-grandchild Liam Hoops. Goodwin-Sievers is honored and entrusted with the care of Mrs. Hoops. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 13, 2023, from 4-8pm at 524 Broadway Street. Services will be held Friday, April 14, 2023, at 10am with burial a Walnut Grove Cemetery in Monroe City immediately following.
