Virginia Hyatt

It is with great sadness that the family of Virginia (Jinny) Ann Hyatt, 77, Vincennes, announce that she lost her battle with cancer and passed away Saturday, September 21st, 2013 at home. She was a loyal, dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother.Jinny was born January 25th, 1936, in Washington, Indiana, the daughter of Nellie and James McGrath. She married the love of her life, Bob Hyatt ,on September 25th, 1960.She graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing 1957 and was the Assistant Head Nurse of Pediatrics at Good Samaritan Hospital until she retired in 1997. Jinny was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and the recipient of the Mother Theresa Service Award in 2013. She spent most of her free time enjoying her family and grandchildren, swimming in her pool, playing cards (with the Methodist ladies) and was very active in her church.Jinny volunteered and served her community and family with selfless passion. She was known for her boundless energy, generous service, faith and kind heart.Jinny is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert C. Hyatt; her four children, Robert Hyatt Jr. and wife Rebecca; Scott Hyatt and wife Susan, Amy Murillo, Beth Flaningam and husband Shawn and her ten amazing grandchildren: Ian and Carson Hyatt; Ryan and Emily Hyatt; Connor, Ben and Maddie Flaningam; Alex, Sam, and Kristin Murillo. Jinny was preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter Ann.Visitation and celebration of her life for family and friends is Monday, September 23, 2013, from 4-8 pm EST at Goodwin Funeral Home. in Vincennes , Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 11 am EST at Sacred Heart Church in Vincennes, Indianawith Rev. David Martin as Celebrant.Jinny will be laid to rest at St John's Cemetery in Washington, Indiana immediately following the funeral.
