Walter Blessinger

Walter D. Blessinger, 77, of Vincennes, passed away at 2:41 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital.He was born January 13, 1936 in Monroe City to Henry Franklin and Ruthie Mae (Pond) Blessinger.Walter retired after working 33 years for Hamilton Glass and Gemtron. He served his country in the Marines, during the Korean War and left the Marines in 1957. He enjoyed fishing, working in his garden and his grandchildren. Walter always wanted to be busy working. Surviving is his wife, Mary (Suddeth) Blessinger, whom he married April 14th, 1958; a daughter, Stephanie Jo (Don) Pheffer ; a son, Walter Blessinger Jr. and his companion, Cheryl Graham, all of Vincennes, five grandchildren, Jennifer Pheffer, Ashley Pheffer, Josh Pheffer, Matthew Blessinger, and Gregory Blessinger; and a great grandchild, Jonathan Ray Graham.Preceding Walter in death were his parents, three brothers, and three sisters.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway.
