Walter Cary

Walter L. Cary Sr., a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, at the age of 89. He was born on August 2, 1935, the son of John D. Cary and Orpha (Catt) Cary and spent his life in Vincennes, Indiana, where he became a cherished member of the community.

Walter dedicated over 35 years to the banking industry, where he worked tirelessly at Old National Bank. His passion for his work was evident in the genuine connections he forged with his clients, who appreciated his unwavering commitment and kindness.

Walter was a devoted family man, leaving behind his loving wife, Flora Cary, and their children: Walter Cary Jr., Steven Cary and his wife Sandy, and Michael Cary. He also cherished his daughter-in-law, Sandy Cary and many grandchildren. Family was at the heart of Walter's life, and he loved deeply, providing unwavering support and encouragement to those around him.

An avid scuba diving enthusiast, Walter's ultimate joy was exploring the underwater world with his sons. He created lasting memories during trips to Panama City, Florida, and the Florida Keys, where he shared his passion for the ocean and adventure. After retiring, he continued his love for the sea, often diving in the Caribbean, relishing every moment spent beneath the waves.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 12:00 pm until the time of service of 2:00 pm at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home. Pastor Trevor Murry will be officiating with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Walter.
