Walter Robert Emison "Spider" McFarland II passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019 peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospital after a long-time battle of different health complications. He had been hospitalized since September 12th.Bob was born at Good Samaritan Hospital on September 15, 1954 and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1972. From there he went to IU, then to Florida State, and returned home to go into the insurance business with his dad who was ill at the time. After his dad passed, he continued with the insurance business until the business sold. He then went to Fort Myers, Florida for three years and worked at a golf course in the pro shop. He later returned to Vincennes and went to work for Dick Leonard Ford for almost five years, and then worked for Wilson Motors for almost seven years, and then to Memering Motorplex for 16 years. He met is wife Vicky in November of 1991 and they were married March 22 of 1992 as they would've been married for 28 years in March. My husband "Spider" was the love of my life and my soul mate and very best friend. I loved him with all my heart.Bob was preceded in death by his parents Walter R.E. and June E. McFarland; his grandparents Walter C. and Martha E. McFarland and Carl G. and Eva J. Buyer; his aunts and uncles, Barbara A. He was always fair and honest with his customers and they continued to come back to him for 28 years. Also, everyone knew what a prankster he was. I know how much he loved Gary and Sherry Memering and everyone at Memering Motorplex. He will be missed very much by all. I never knew how much he was loved by so many friends since he became ill, the cards, the prayers, the phone calls, were so many. We also enjoyed sitting out in our front porch bird watching. His Aunt Babb gave us bird books and when we wouldn't know one, we would grab the books. He always told me did you ever think we would be getting this old to be doing this. We also enjoyed our Sunday drives where we would often pack a picnic lunch and drive to Kentucky Lake.Bob was a big IU, Packers, and Yankees fan. He would sit in his man cave and would whoop and holler so loud he would make our pets jump. He also loved our pets as we have lost three dogs and a cat as we've had a cat now for a year. Bob enjoyed them so much, I want everyone to know how much he was loved and will be missed by all.Bob "Spider" was a great golfer and enjoyed it until a back injury several years ago slowed him down. We enjoyed going fishing, packing a picnic lunch, and sitting in our chairs all day. We also enjoyed our favorite vacation trip over the years to Fort Walton Beach as that was our favorite place as half of his ashes will be placed in the ocean there and the other half place with his parents and grandparents.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday January 18, 2020 at Gardner Brockman Funeral Home with Rusty Thorne officiating. Viewing will be from 11:00 am until the service time. Burial will be private. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the funeral home for funeral expenses.
