In loving memory of Robert Wayne Young, it is with heavy hearts that his family announces his peaceful passing on June 10, 2024, at his home in Vincennes, IN. Born on August 7, 1939, in Vincennes, Wayne was the son of Arvle and Helen (Utterbuck) Young.
Wayne found fulfillment in his career at Keister Hardware, where his commitment and hard work left a lasting impact on all those around him. His devotion to his job was matched by his passion for watching college basketball, NCIS, and Yellowstone. Wayne's love for the Reds baseball team was unwavering, and he took great pleasure in following their games throughout the seasons.
In his quiet moments, Wayne could often be found engrossed in word searches, a simple pastime that brought him relaxation and contentment. His affinity for old country music filled his home with melodies that brought joy to Wayne as well. He also loved planting flowers out front of his apartment in honor of his brother, Don.
Above all, Wayne treasured his family. His love for them knew no bounds, and he dedicated his life to providing for and supporting those he held dear. His presence will be deeply missed by his beloved family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched along the way.
Wayne is survived by his children, "H." Young (Susan), Denah Harrington, Tracy Young (Adina), and Scott Young (Jodi); sister and brother, Mildred "Mid" Walters (Darrell) and Jim Young (Julia); 9 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren with one on the way. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Phyllis Helderman and Jane Fuller; and brothers, Leroy Young and Don Young.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Memorial Park Cemetery at 1:00 pm. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Wayne.
