Wayne Martin Patterson, 67, arrived at his heavenly home on February 3, 2022. He was born on December 23, 1954, in Washington, Indiana to Donald and Joyce (Cobb) Patterson. He graduated Barr Reeve High School in 1973 where he was the student manager of the Vikings basketball team and played baseball. Wayne was a member of the All-Saints Catholic Church of Cannelburg and Bethany Christian Church of Washington where he became very strong in his Christian faith. Over the years he has worked in many places in the Daviess County Community, but he currently leaves behind his fellow employees at IsoFlex Packing Corporation, Washington. Wayne enjoyed being with his family and friends, fishing with his grandsons, video chatting with his granddaughter, watching sports, making homemade ice cream, deviled eggs, marinated turkey strips and being king of the barbecue for family functions. Over the years he also enjoyed refereeing boys & girls basketball (29 Sectional, 15 Regional Games), baseball (23 Sectionals, 19 Regionals, 5 Semi State and 4 State Games) and football (23 Sectionals, 6 Regionals, 3 Semi States and 1 State Games) for over the last 30+ years with his referee buddies. During this week all the area schools have honored him with a moment of silence before the start of any basketball game. He was a wonderful father, grandpa/papaw, brother, uncle and partner to all that loved him. He is survived by his daughters, Rachel (Patterson) Blythe of Washington and Sara (Patterson) Carley and husband Shane of Orangevale, California; his grandsons, Garth Perkins and Hunter Parks both from Washington, and granddaughter, Margot Carley of Orangevale, California. His significant other, Sandy Harbstreit and family of Washington. He also leaves behind three sisters, Charlotte Hudson and husband Ray of Indianapolis, Karen McElyea, of Henderson, Nevada and Diana Dickerson and husband Tad of Livingston, Tennessee; and one brother, Roger Patterson and wife Lisa of Washington. His seven nieces and nephews; fifteen great nieces and nephews; and two great-great nieces and one great-great nephew. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Joyce Patterson and great niece Sheena Sue Gillespie. Goodwin-Sievers is honored an entrusted with the care of Mr. Patterson. A visitation will be held at Goodwin-Sievers 2020 State St. Washington, IN on Monday, February 14, 2022 10am - 1pm. A service will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 2pm with burial following at Sugarland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please donated to a local athletic program of your choice. If you choose to celebrate Mr. Patterson's life in person that masks will be required.
