Wayne Schuetz

Wayne G. Schuetz, 84, of Washington, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at his residence in Washington. He was born on July 5, 1938, in Hartford, MI, to the late Alred Schuetz and Cicilia Burkhart Schuetz. When Wayne was 12 years old, his family moved to Washington, Indiana. Wayne had two careers over his lifetime, one with 30 years' operating Schuetz Gulf Service with radiator/air conditioning repair, wrecker service, and U-Haul, and the next being the first EMT class offered in Daviess County. He owned the ambulance service in Daviess County for 35 years. During those years, Wayne and his staff raised the level of pre-hospital care to Paramedic for our citizens. Wayne was a member of the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was always looking for new a new adventure. He was an accomplished photographer, worked with stain glass, and competed and judged professional BBQ competitions. One family dairy goat led Wayne to several more animals and traveling the United States in the dairy goat business. Wayne served as a president of the National Togganburg Dairy Goat Club, and he was also the president of the Indiana Dairy Goat Club for 5 years. Wayne eventually moved on from goats, and began his next adventure with miniature donkeys. With a herd of around 35 animals, he loved to show and cart drive the donkeys. His breeding of quality animals have been found all over the United States, Canada, France, and Italy. Wayne is survived by his wife of over sixty years, Joan (Alexander) Schuetz, his children, Doug Schuetz, Carole Young, Kent Schuetz (Rachel), and Jon Schuetz, his sister, Gloria Stout of Collins, CO, and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation for Wayne will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023, from 4:00 - 8:00pm at New Hope Christian Church 559 E 100 S Washington, IN 47501. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at New Hope Christian Church beginning at 1:00pm. Friends and family may visit from 12:00 - 1:00 prior to the funeral service. After the funeral service, Wayne will be interred at Sugarland Memory Gardens in Washington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Daviess County 4-H Building Fund. Wayne was a 10-year member of the 4-H and served as a leader.
