William Hatton

April 11, 1925 — August 29, 2015

William Earl (Bill) Hatton, 90, passed away on August 29 at the Good Samaritan Hospice Center in Vincennes. He was born April 11, 1925 to John and Rachel Greathouse Hatton and was the youngest of twelve children. On October 16, 1943 he married Bessie Andrews. Bill graduated from Fritchton High school in 1943 where he was the captain of the basketball team under his coach and lifelong friend Johnnie Barrato. He was honored as the 2013 outstanding alumni of Fritchton High School. A lifelong Knox County farmer he was active in several community organizations and was a member of the Indiana Presbyterian Church. Mr. Hatton was an enthusiastic euchre player who immensely enjoyed passing you loaded. He is survived by his wife of seventy two years Bessie and four children. Beverly Donovan and her husband Bob, Charlotte Thompson and her husband Mike, Bruce Hatton and his wife Cindy and Ray Hatton and his wife Teresa; grandchildren, Jeff Donovan and his wife Ifen, Andrea Huff and her husband Darrel, Ryan Donovan and his wife Michelle, Julie Palmer and her husband Josh, Jennifer Blaize, Brian Hatton and his wife Stephanie, Nathan, Drew, Claire and Clay Hatton, Shannon Green and her husband Eric, Daniel Hatton and his wife Tristan; great grandchildren, Ryan and Elaine Donovan, Mallory, Elijah and Isaac Huff, Jessica, Robert, William and Silas Donovan, Morgan, Addison and Grayson Palmer, Garrett and Natalie Blaize, Zoey Thompson and Katie Ann Green. He was preceded in death by grandson, Andy Thompson. Funeral services for Bill will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home, 505 Main Street, Vincennes, IN with Rev. Larry Langer officiating. Burial will follow in the Royal Oak Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 pm on Tuesday and from 9:00 am until the hour of service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Royal Oak Cemetery Association.
