William Lane

William E. "Bill" Lane, 84, passed away at 6:28 am on December 23, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Bill was born on June 6, 1936 the son of Mason and Esther (Hayes) Lane. He married Joyce Fields on November 6, 1954.Bill was a member of Old Cathedral Catholic Church and worked for his son Greg Lane Painting for several years. Prior to that Bill had been a deputy sheriff for the Knox County Sheriff's Department. He was also an avid IU and Colts fan and enjoyed NASCAR. Bill was especially known for his practical jokes and great sense of humor.Survivors include his wife, Joyce Lane of Vincennes; daughter, Kelly Clauss and her husband John of Jasper; sons, Greg Lane, Todd Lane and his wife Susan, Troy Lane, all of Vincennes; his grandchildren, Heather Cooper and her husband Shane, Cody Lane and his wife Jayme, Michael Lane and his wife Christi, Carson Lane, and twelve great grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Ruth Ann Ruble and Wanda Eisenhut, and his brothers, Robert, Larry Jo and George Lane.Friends may visit with Bill's family and friends from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Monday December 28, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2004 N. 2nd Street, Vincennes. Bill's family will have a private funeral service and he will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
