W. Terrell Martin, 88, of 866 S. Noble Road, Monroe City, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Sunday, January 12, 2014 at his residence.He was born November 23, 1925 in Petersburg, Indiana to Hollis and Kate Martin.Terrell started Martin's Garage which later became Martin's Used Cars, which he and his son owned for over 50 years. He served in the Army during World War II and was a POW in Koblenz Germany until liberated by the US military. He received the Purple Heart Medal. He was a member of the VFW, DAV, and enjoyed working on trucks. He was fond of chrome.Those left to honor Terrell is a daughter, Ginger (Dick) Wilson of Monroe City; a daughter in law,Sharon Martin of Monroe City; three grandchildren, Chris (Toni) Martin, Cory (Becki) Martin, and Katie (Rodney) Watts; and three great-grandchildren, Brian, Caleb, and Shelby Martin.Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Virginia (Blackburn) Martin; his companion, Barbara Brochin; and his son, Terry Martin.Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Searls officiating. Burial will follow in the Walnut Hills cemetery in Petersburg. Friends may visit from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the GSH Hospice.
