William Mullens

William "Bill" Mullens, 81, of Vincennes, passed away at his home on June 25, 2014. William was born at home in Bruceville, Indiana on October 12, 1932 to Riley and Margaret Arnott Mullens. He was the 9th of 13 children. He graduated from Bruceville High School in 1950 and was an avid fan of the Bruceville Hilltoppers. He attended Vincennes University. In 1957 he married Donna Edgin of Vincennes. They had three daughters and were married for 57 years.Bill was proud of his service in the Army where he served during the Korean War. He worked for 26 years at Prestolite Battery Factory until they closed in 1985. He then retired from Gemtron in 1998. He owned Mullens Mini Mart in Bruceville, and took great pride in the chain link fences he built all over Vincennes and surrounding towns. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the First Church of God.He had a life-long love affair with fishing, music, blackberry cobbler, pie, and iced tea. He loved St Louis Cardinals baseball, IU basketball, his church, gardening, and baking.Bill was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to his family (all surviving): wife Donna, daughters Sherry Eaton (Tim) of Vincennes, Kelly Sims (Mike) of Cincinnati, OH, and Robyn Crook (Kenn) of Bloomington, IN, grandchildren Taylor Eaton, Brett Eaton, Ryan Sims, Andrew Sims, Kenny Crook, and Amara Crook.Bill is also survived by his brother, Robert "Bob" Mullens (Lucy) of Benson, Arizona, and sisters Norma Crouch (Charles) of Bicknell, and Agnes Kolehouse (Bert) of Vincennes. Preceding Bill in death are his parents, and brothers John, Steve, George, Jim, Riley, Jr., and Jerald, and sisters Betty, Mary and Shirley.Visitation will be at the First Church of God in Vincennes on Sunday from 4-7 pm and Monday from 10-11 am. Funeral service will be Monday at 11 am, also at the First Church of God, 14th and St Clair. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. hide
