William Raney

William O. Raney, Sr., 76, of 416 W. Jefferson, Vincennes, passed away at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the New Willow Manor. He was born December 23, 1934, in Vincennes, to Ottis Delbert and Amanda (Wright) Raney. William retired from Vincennes Steel in 1997 after thirty two years of service. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He coached Cub League for several years and won the championship in 1972 while coaching the Eagles. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the 40 et 8. He enjoyed mushroom hunting and watching baseball games.Survivors include his children, William O. Raney, Jr. of Thailand, Julie Ann Like of Vincennes and Judy Amanda (Karl E.) Phipps of Vincennes; sister, Betty Boyer of Vincennes; brother, Wendell Raney of Russelville, IN; grandchildren, Jennifer Like, Chris Like, Jackie Like, Bethany Bishop, Summer Bishop, Daniel Raney and William Raney III and great-grandchildren, Jacob Henshilwood, Christian Henshilwood and Natalea Henshilwood.Preceding William in death were his parents; sister, Mae Raney and granddaughter, Amanda Harris.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St. with Pastor Wayne Unger and Pastor James Nickless officiating.
