William Woods

William R. Woods, 83, passed away at 3:25 a.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at BridgePointe Health Campus. Born January 20, 1928, in Vincennes, he was the son of William and Mary (Thompson) Woods.William was a Vincennes city firefighter from April 1, 1953 to April 1, 1973, worked for Indiana Weights and Measures and was an independent contractor. He enjoyed hunting and shooting at the Vincennes Gun Club. A United States Navy veteran, he served his country from 1948-1950.Survivors include his daughter, Angela K. Davis and her husband Jeffrey; grandchildren, Ashley Naomia Davis, Shyann Ashella Davis, Sidney Alexandria Davis, Zenanda Jean Davis, Austin Michael Woods and Trevor Woods; and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Woods.Preceding William in death were his parents; wife Naomia M. Woods who passed away July 25, 1991 and son, Michael W. Woods.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 16, at 1:00 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St. with Larry Howerton officiating.
