Willis "Willie" E. Allen, formerly of Lawrenceville, 82, passed away at 8:51 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2012 at New Willow Manor. Born January 6, 1930, in Lawrenceville, IL he was the son of Edward H. and Treva L. (Powell) Allen. Willie officially retired from Peoples National Bank/Old National Bank in Lawrenceville after working 30 years, but returned on a part-time basis for 12 more years. More recently, he enjoyed being a valet at Good Samartian Hospital in Vincennes, IN. Willie was an amateur artist who also enjoyed music and playing the keyboard. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Christian Church in Pinkstaff, IL, as well as the Masonic Lodge, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Elks all of Lawrenceville. Willie served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War in the 355th Engineering Batallion. He was married in 1952 to Catherine Jones who preceded him in death in 1989. Survivors include his wife, Mary "Betty" (Roland) Allen of Vincennes; daughters, Debra (Marc) Calverley of Mt. Carmel, IL and Vickie Wells (fiancee Phil Hengel) of La Crosse, WI; step son, John Fish (Dorothy) of Vincennes and step daughter, Sue Ellen Kemp of Treasure Island, FL; grandchildren, Roman (Amy) Wells of Onalaska, WI, Alyschia Wells of Holmen, WI and Bryan (Sara) Calverley of Evansville, IN; three step grandchildren, Jason (Courtney) Fish of Fort Benning, GA; Christopher (Nicole) Fish of Bruceville, Ashley Fish of Vincennes, and Golden Kemp of Treasure Island, FL; great grandchildren, Jaxsyn and Torynn Wells of WI and two step great grandchild, Gavin Fish of Bruceville and Mekayla Rae Kemp of Indianapolis. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm EDT Friday, January 27th at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St. with Rev. Rick Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 EDT - 9:00 EDT on Thursday at the funeral home.
